In 2022, the Yesh! Film Festival will be held in March as usual. We hope the Zurich cinemas Houdini, Riffraff and Arthouse Uto/Le Paris will be allowed to welcome full audiences further on. To guarantee that the films can be enjoyed, we have provided for an online edition alongside our cinemas, so you can keep looking forward to Yesh! In our wide-ranging eight-day programme, we will present the latest films that share the multifaceted culture, history and religion of Judaism as their common denominator.
Yesh! is the only film festival in Switzerland with a Jewish focus. We have carefully selected over 30 films, most of which we will have the privilege of showing to Swiss audiences for the first time. To enable deeper insight into Swiss, international and Israeli filmmaking, we normally hold panel discussions with directors or actors after individual films, where questions from the audience are also answered. As we are not allowed to hold such events this year, we have conducted these talks for you, recorded them and made them available online.
With the aim of explaining topics from the Jewish world to youths and children, and to raise their awareness, a special programme for schools is once again being put together for the Yesh! Film Festival in 2021, in cooperation with the School & Culture Office at the Zurich Cantonal Department of Education.
Yesh! was launched by the film club Seret, and the Evi and Sigi Feigel Loge. Since 2010, Seret has been screening current and older films from the Jewish world at various cinemas in the city of Zurich and at the ICZ Community Centre. Like Yesh!, Seret strives to reach a broad audience – also outside the Jewish community.
The Evi and Sigi Feigel Lodge represents solidarity, friendship and charity, and carries out public relations work in the context of cultural events. Ever since it was founded, it has endeavoured to promote exchange between Switzerland’s Jewish and non-Jewish residents.
